Do you have a clear vision, plan and coach to help you in your faith?
Getting to heaven is not easy. Christ even says, “… narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life: and few there are that find it!” (Matthew 7:14)
Getting to heaven also requires work and training. St. Paul compares our spiritual life as training for a race. “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
Athletes have a clear vision in what they want and a strategy/ game plan in place to achieve their goal. Do you have a vision and “game plan” in place for getting to heaven? Are you training for the ultimate prize – heaven?
Just like an athlete can train on its own but can only improve so much before he/she realizes that in order to make it to the Olympics he/she needs a coach to take them to the next level. It is the same with our spiritual life. We all need a coach, a spiritual director that can push, support and challenge us in our faith journey. All Saints had their own spiritual directors just like all pro athletes have their own coaches.
Do you have a coach (spiritual director) that can take you to that next level in your faith?
Just like being a good athlete won’t get you to the pros neither will being just a good Catholic/Christian get you into heaven. We must become great! We must become Saints!
Only Saints are in heaven.
Never lose sight of your goal – heaven. Have a game plan. Train your spiritual muscle. Become great. Become a Saint!
