Happy Second Week of Advent! As we continue to await our Saviour’s coming, there’s a little season-appropriate gift I’d like to share with you all.

Something you may not yet know about me is that, in the last half-year, I’d begun to lead the music for the evening youth Mass at our parish. So, going into the Advent season, I was both excited… and a little worried. Like most people I’d spoken with, I knew about three Advent songs – O Come, O Come Emmanuel, O Come Divine Messiah, and Come Thou Long Expected Jesus. And though I love those haunting songs of waiting and anticipation… choosing the same songs for each Sunday of Advent would get old pretty quickly.

So, together with my far more traditionally-raised husband – who, as it turned out, knew of way more Advent songs than I did – we went Advent song hunting.

As it turns out, there are, in fact, quite a few amazing Advent songs… and nearly all of them have that wonderful haunting anticipation we all love about this special pre-Christmas season!

Below is a little playlist of the best ones we’ve found. Feel free to add them to your musical preparation for the season! A blessed Advent to you all, and happy listening!

Wait for the Lord

Hark! A Thrilling Voice is Sounding

Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Come Lord Jesus to the Manger

O Come, O Come Emmanuel

The Angel Gabriel

O Come Divine Messiah!

Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming

The King Shall Come When Morning Dawns

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
