praying hands with rosary - smallWritten By: David Gilbert

We are less than a week away from Ash Wednesday – the beginning of Lent. We should use this time to prepare ourselves for the “marathon” of Lent.

Lent is a penitential season marked by prayer, fasting and abstinence, and almsgiving.

The amazing thing is that God gives us the opportunity to choose our own penance. What an amazing gift! God is so merciful that He allows us to choose our own punishment for our sins.

God’s mercy is abundant, particularly during this Lenten season when so many souls mortify themselves to appease Him. Just think of how happy you will be (not to mention all the many graces you will receive) to live this Lent, in the Jubilee of Mercy, very well.

Don’t miss this great opportunity.

Although the Lenten fasts are voluntary (so we can chose to ignore them or cheat) we would be foolish (and it would be to our spiritual detriment) to not make a serious effort.

Be amazing! Take advantage of this Lent within the Jubilee Year of Mercy and sacrifice. As the saying goes “no pain, no gain”.
