“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and alleluia is our song!” ― St. John Paul II
For some of us the hope and joy of the Resurrection seems so distant. We were made in the image and likeness of God and our purpose is to know, love and serve the Lord.
When we are striving to do the Will of God and become the person God created us to be – a saint – this is where we will find fulfillment and lasting joy in life. As St. Augustine says, “You have formed us for Yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in You.”
We need to trust in Him. Often times that is a scary thought and difficult since we grow accustom to our comforts, way of life and our paycheque or bank account balance. As Christ said, “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today” (Matthew 6:31-34).
Be strong and bold, the Lord goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not be afraid. (Deuteronomy 31:7–8)
