I am often asked what my thoughts are on the end of times; are living on the cusp of the end of the world or at the very least a great chastisement? This is in light of things such as the 100th anniversary of Fatima approaching, Planet X (Nibiru), the instability and decline of faith and morals in the West and increase in demonic activity. My response is typically the same: Christ says that, “Lo, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is he who is awake, keeping his garments that he may not go naked and be seen exposed!” (Revelation 16:15). So we always need to be prepared – to be spiritually awake. We must always be in a state of Grace because we do not know when the end time will come, nor if our own end time (your death) might come much sooner, so we must always be prepared to meet Our Lord.
While we Christians should be aware of the signs of the times since we are in this world it is clear that we can never be certain of the end of times. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only” (Matthew 24:36).
What is more important than the signs of the times is being aware of the state of your soul and always being prepared for Christ’s return – to “stay awake”. So prepare your soul, go to Confession, receive the Eucharist as often as you can, pray the Rosary daily, practice the corporal and spiritual works of mercy and “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour” (Matthew 25:13).
