Rosary in hands close up - smallWritten by: Amber Miller

Today is the feast of the Queenship of Mary.

And what better gift could we present Our Heavenly Queen than a crown of roses? This is exactly what we do whenever we pray the rosary!

I once read an article that explains this more eloquently than I ever could. In short, I learned that whenever we pray the rosary (with our hearts and minds focused on Jesus and Our Blessed Mother), our guardian Angel takes every reverent Hail Mary we pray (each in the form of a perfect rose) and weaves them into a crown for Jesus and Mary to wear.

This is why I particularly love the 5th Joyful Mystery of the Rosary, the Crowning of Mary. It’s much easier to meditate on Mary’s coronation when I imagine that I’m making the crown!

If you have ever struggled to pray the Rosary, or have failed to pray it religiously, Our Lady is ready to forgive us and to help us try again. Our Queen herself told the Three Little Visionaries to “Pray the Rosary everyday to obtain peace for the world”. Our Blessed Mother desires for her adoptive sons and daughters to help bring more little ones to her Son. By loving devotion to Our Lady- who joins our prayers and requests to hers- we can and will change the world! I’m sure that this is why Padre Pio calls the Rosary “The Weapon” against evil.

So, in commemoration of Our Lady’s Queenship, pray the Rosary today and adorn her with a crown of roses. Then, try praying the Rosary tomorrow. St. Louis Marie Gringnion de Montfort once wrote: “the Rosary is the most powerful weapon to touch the Heart of Jesus, our Redeemer, who so loves his Mother.” While spending time with Mary, we will learn about Jesus things that only His Mother would know.
